Welcome to my Lisa Waterman Gray website. A freelance writer & photographer from the Kansas City area, I have worked with dozens of Midwestern, national & international print & online clients. I also offer editing services, & create marketing copy.
I often write about must-visit destinations, captivating events, eco-friendly topics or food & beverage finds. I've crafted dozens of restaurant & cookbook reviews, and original published recipes. I have cooked at a restaurant, a catering company, & a culinary school. I've taken on large projects too. My biggest assignment involved creating the nationally published book, An Explorer's Guide: Kansas. 13,000+ solo road miles, 4,000+ photographs, & 100+ nights on the road ended in this 394-page travel book. Learn more, below. Meeting interesting people always makes travel better . I interviewed Jerry Lewis about chronic pain, Alice Waters about Slow Food, & Dolly Parton about her Imagination Library. I even sampled appetizers for a Kansas City casino, with Paul Prudhomme. But it's not just about interviewing 'celebrities.' I also toured northern Arizona with Native American guides & profiled an 80+ year-old woman who had only recently stopped teaching Tai Chi. Need a speaker? I have addressed tourism professionals to civic groups, & completed numerous broadcast interviews:
